Calling it early- BEST audiobook of 2026

View post on TikTok

I started this audiobook, having heard nothing about it before it landed in front of me, on a whim and a good feeling. I finished it in one day. Two minutes in, I was prepared to commit crimes for every character, was laughing out loud non stop, and knew I was fucked (in the best way possible). Ash Perez has written a resonant, beautiful, fucking hilarious audio production filled with so much heart and wit. I, for one, am obsessed. Prepare to hear more about this before its March 31st release date.

On the night that she is poised to prove herself and move from sous chef to head chef of the popular Michelin star restaurant, Alex discovers that her ex-best friend (and possible first love) has just gotten engaged in her very dining room. Not only does Genevieve's fiance want to meet the chef, he wants Alex to cater the ENTIRE roster of wedding events, and she can't say no- or else no promotion. Through voice memos, flashbacks, and surround sound conversations, we get to see the wedding prep of the following weeks, the confusing road trip that ended a friendship, and the delicate way that feelings can come back and evolve all at once. This shit is MESSY but so are most things that are worth it.
